Exploring Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Somerset

Today, we decided to head off to the Mendip Hills in Somerset, to explore the caves and gorge of Cheddar. Yes, also home to the original cheddar cheese. We bought a family pass which gave us a guided open top bus tour of the town and gorge, as well as the three caves. Abseilers were seemingly everywhere, scaling what seemed ridiculous heights,as the bus curved around the gorge's windy roads, .
The town of Cheddar was itself quite charming, dotted with cafes and craft shops and with a wonderful cheese factory offering free cheese tasting! One of their award-winning mature cheeses is actually matured in the caves!

The children seemed to enjoy today. You can only pay to see so many cathedrals. Stay tuned for more Robinson adventures tomorrow.....     Tricia

  2. Hi everyone. looks like it may have worked - hope so. looks like you are having a great time -wish we were there. We are getting travel fever -the only way to cure it is to book an overseas trip. Noel Milner is going to Southern China and Burma in July next year. It is a temptation. All the best. Di and Richo.
