Ferrari Museum and Beautiful Venice

We got off to a racing start today by stopping at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello on our journey to Venice. Red was certainly the colour of the day! The museum was filled with Ferraris from all eras, plus a Ferrari store, memorabilia and next door....the opportunity to test drive one!

Brett Snr could not pass up such an opportunity, so we hired 2 Ferraris ( red, of course) for about 10 minutes. Brett and I , with a professional also in the front, went in one car. The children were driven by a professional driver in the other. We sped through the back streets and highway of Maranello, dreaming of what life must be like for those on the 2 year waiting list!

Fast forward and we were on the road again, this time to Marco Polo airport. We parked the car and, without a hitch,  caught a water taxi into Venice. The 20 minute ride was choppy but very exciting. Arriving a few minutes walk from our hotel, after settling in we headed to the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square. We couldn't help but visit "Hard RockCafe" for dinner - the most unique "Hard Rock" we had ever seen. Gondolas were lined up two metres from the front door, venetian chandeliers decorated the ceilings and staff sang and joined in with the music clips. It was great fun.

Luckily we DO have wifi in our room, which is an unexpected bonus. We're hoping the weather stays fine. Apparently this time last week Venice flooded and our hotel's reception was 45cm under water!! Tomorrow will no doubt be fabulous as we explore this breathtaking city.                  Tricia
