We could not help but return to Florence one more time today - our last day in Tuscany. We had considered returning to Lucca, but we gathered we would be too outnumbered by comic book heroes! The drive into Florence took us much longer than a few days ago. It felt like the whole of Italy was there!

We had another delicious lunch at "Hard Rock Cafe," then browsed the markets. Unable to find that perfect bag or jacket, we left with just a few more photos and some lovely memories. As we headed off, we paused to take some photos of Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo, where yet another statue of David stood - this time in bronze. Where are the real men that look like that???
We were looking forward to visiting our little local winery at "Fattoria di Montecchio" this afternoon. Unfortunately, the lady inside reception was very disinterested in letting us sample any wines as she said they had a tour group coming in. She seemed to almost scoff at the idea that we may find anywhere on a weekend that would let us sample their wine unless we were part of a pre-booked group. And so we left, feeling very unwelcome.....another review coming up for Tripadvisor.
So packing it is tonight, in readiness for our journey to Venice tomorrow. For our three days there, we are likely to have very limited WIFI access, so the blog may miss a beat for that time. Heavy rain is predicted for tomorrow, so arriving in Venice is certainly going to be a challenge with three kids and a load of luggage. Please say a prayer for us and we'll do our best to blog again soon!.........Tricia
Hi everyone It's so long since I posted a comment I have probably forgotten how to. Tanya was due to have her baby on 18th November but got a call about an hour ago to say she had had him - a boy, 7 pound 10ounces. Everything happened in a hurry. Tanya had a few slight pains and went to the hospital and basically had the baby straight away. It has come as a bit of a shock.
ReplyDeleteYou are seeing some beautiful places. Wish we were there - hope to be there some time in the future.
